With IUF Global Dairy Conference NZDWU sees opportunities for organising

The IUF Global Dairy Conference was held on 9-12 March in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was attended by more than 120 participants from 22 countries, making it the largest dairy sector conference in the IUF’s history.  A full series of reports prepared by the IUF Latin America Regional Secretariat is available.  Participants to the conference from the Asia/Pacific region included the IUF-affiliated New Zealand Dairy Workers Union (NZDWU), which sent a delegation of four: James Ritchie (National Secretary), Shane Stieller (Vice President), Frances Webster (Executive Committee member) and Murray Kerse (Women’s Committee member and Organiser).  An interview with James Ritchie on opportunities for organising in transnational companies and the challenges facing dairy sector unions is available.
